Fortunately I was associated with a very influential saxophonist (the *BEST* jazz educator in non-diatonic jazz language) in contemporary jazz, David Liebman to work on the new edition of his A Chromatic Approach to Jazz Harmony and Melody. This book clearly offers the best materials for musicians who are attempting to understand the harmonically freer music of Coltrane and others since the late fifties.

The principles in his book - for my own musicality on a real playing level - are demonstrated on the following tracks. Enjoy!

NOTE: Chord symbols are written for the original progressions; not for CHROMATIC LINES reflecting superimposition. CHROMATIC LINES played in the above can be found in LINE COMPENDIUM (pp.145-162/ revised pp.187-204).
